Author: Muhammad Saad Naeem
According to estimates, the number of global migrants has seen a stark increment. The stats depict an approximate 152 million migrants in 1990 turning to about a whopping 258 million migrants currently. Asia has been observed to be the top destination given the highest increase of around 30 million till 2017 since 2000, according to the estimates of International Organization of Migration. An estimate prepared by the United Nations office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs (UNOCHA 2010) states 740 million people to be internal migrants globally; the highest ratio to be among the developing nations (Rajan, 2017).
