Industrial Tourism Development In Pakistan Under CPEC-a Case Study Of Allama Iqbal Industrial City, Faisalabad

The purpose of the study was to investigate the “Industrial tourism development under CPEC-A case study of Allama Iqbal industrial city, Faisalabad. China Pakistan Economic Corridor has created multiple emerging opportunities for Pakistan. Research studies on tourism showed that, the major part of tourism is due to industrial activities. CPEC is considered as centralized industrial hub of Central Asia in coming future years. Thus by adopting the perspective, recent study has measured the opportunities for industrial tourism under CPEC by taking Allama Iqbal Industrial zone as a case study. The research was conducted by using qualitative research method and data were collected by interviewing method. Judgmental sampling method was used for data collection. Initially 100 respondents were selected for interviews, and contacted them via email for getting permission and time and venues of the interview. but received response only from 67 respondents. The duration of the interview of per respondents was only 10 to 15 minutes. Out of 67 interviews, it was found that interviews of 7 respondents are irrelevant and they showed irresponsible behavior. Rest of 60 respondents’ interviews have been added in this study for analysis. Respondents belonged to center of excellence CPEC in Islamabad and Faisalabad, the hotel managers and CPEC experts including public relationship officers. Qualitative data were analyzed by using content and narrative analysis approaches. From the results it was found that CPEC has great potential for industrial tourism due to its industrial zone, infrastructure development and also its strategic position. At the end of the study it was presented the conclusion, recommendations and policy guidelines to develop industrial tourism framework in Pakistan. Supervisor:-Dr. Muhammad Jehangir Khan
